In the mid 70s Dad brought Mom to Palmdale. She agreed to stay if they could find a summer place, well, more temperate..."And that has made all the difference." (Frost). The home we're selling is next to the one Mom & Dad first purchased. It is delightful. It's kind of like staying in a newly remodeled Airbnb without the remodeling. It sits at 4500', 1-2 stones' throws from Big Rock Creek. It snows every winter here. Sometimes a little. Sometimes a lot. It's warm every summer here. Sometimes a little. Sometimes a lot. You can climb a mountain, catch a trout, chase a bear (don't chase the bear), splash in the stream and, still, Super Target is less than 20 miles away! Our departed & beloved neighbor, Wayne, who built this house for his family, had a fun story to tell. He worked for the studios during Hollywood's heyday. On the set of "It's a Wonderful Life,” Jimmy Stewart was struggling to throw the rock through the second floor window of the Old Granville House. Wayne volunteered to give it a try, and according to him, accomplished the feat on his first throw. I believe him 'cause there's still a couple cracked panes in the house he built for his bride. You see, his wish did come true. You'll have wonderful neighbors; my young and growing family are keeping Mom's place. We're not here all the time, but when we are, we're a real treat. Think we've had 3 neighborhood bbq/birthday/pool parties in the last 10 days (4 if you include tomorrow.) If you make friends with the resort next door, they may invite you over for a glass (or more) of wine, a bite at the cafe, live music or movie night for the kids. If you'd prefer biking or hiking, you can see the Manzanita Trail from the property. Turn right and you get to Devil's Punchbowl. Turn left and it's Mt. Baden Powell (9,399’), the PCT & Wrightwood. The back way to Wrightwood is an 11 mile ride, though I hear since there's a new brewery up there, it only seems like 2. Lots of water up here. A pond right across from you. Leave your windows open and you'll hear the stream at night. You'll shower in natural spring water…if you want to. Well, you’ll have a choice. This property is gravity fed by Paradise Springs (maintained by the neighborhood) & also by a high pressure (~130psi) well at the resort (at no cost.). Do you like fruit? That’s wonderful. I planted a 100 tree orchard right next to you, all heirloom and no two varieties the same. You can have all the peaches, nectarines, pears, plums, apples, cherries, grapes, apricots & even figs you can eat…just check on the irrigation system now & then. It’s about as close to Paradise as you can get. It must have been one of Wayne’s kids, ages past, who climbed the fireplace wall & glued pebbles to a thousand pound rock: “Espirito De La Montana,” it reads. 3 parcels are included in sale: 3063-015-013 (house); 3063-015-014 & 3063-015-015 (vacant & cleared land across street). Approx. 18,683 sq ft total. Approx. 260 sq ft of house is loft. Everything. Wouldn’t sell it but wife said we need to open a South Pacific themed bistro in Indiana. I said, “Sure, Hun.”.
